There is the drawback though, that you are basically tied to the one phone for up to 24 months.
SIM only deals are the newest of the bunch really. They are great for people who have a specific handset they want to buy and a specific company they want their mobile services through. It is also good if you can afford to pay money outright for a handset, as it will save you money in the long run. Whereas a lot of PAYG phones are tied to a particular mobile company, SIM only deals free that up completely. This is fast becoming the choice for many people, including businessmen and women.
So it really boils down to what you want. Most people nowadays want the best of both worlds. They want to experience the very best in technology, while knowing they are saving money as well. In the bigger picture of things, if you can afford to buy a phone handset of your preference, then you should. As the cost of running that phone with a SIM only deal, works out better than contract deals by a long chalk. It is also better than PAYG packaged phones as you need to stick with a particular company for those. So to save money and have the most flexible deal, choose SIM only deals.
